Stig Sjostrom

Stig Sjøstrøm started his professional career at the age of sixteen as the house drummer at Wrightegaarden, backing blues artists like Reidar Larsen and Rock Bottom.

Wanting to learn more he went to France and studied classical percussion and jazz at the Music Conservatory in Caen. Still wanting to learn more about music and drumming he studied at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo. In 1998 he was hired by The Black Label, a folkrockband that toured Norway for a couple of years.

In 2000 he got to know the award winning composer and saxophone player Guttorm Guttormsen, and soon started a collaboration that's still going on. The last 5 years he has worked much in the theatre and mainly for Theatre Ibsen where he has done several productions.

He has also a close collaboration with the slide guitarist Daniel Eriksen and has recorded and toured with him for some time. He joined Telemark Brass in 2007 and has done several concerts with this ensemble lately.
