Ove ThorkildsenBass/backing vocalsOve Thorkildsen is a musical "potato" who wants to do anything and everything in the musical universe. Vocals, harmonica, guitar, bass… hard-rock, jazz, pop, folk… - and now Pzydeco Blues. Ove was born in Bergen, Norway back in '71, but lived his first five years in the German city of Cologne. After returning to Norway, his mother tricked him into learning the guitar. And so the lunacy begins… we do think she regretted that decision later on. At the age of 9 he started performing at school and joined his first band at the age of 12. This was back in the eighties and hard rock and permed hair was inevitable, so Ove started the band "Intruder" in ‘85 toghether with Per Einar Watle, Lars Tinderholt and Ronny Arntzen. Due to lacking skills on the guitar at the time, he was forced to sing - but the band lasted succesfully until ‘91, and made big local headlines. This band just doesn’t seem to die, and is still active with its fourth reunion coming up! Since "Intruder"'s hay day, Ove's played in numerous bands like "Big mouth & the pea brains", "Déjà vu", "b.u.m.p.", "Easy Money", "The Gutta Boys", "An Evening with...". He’s had the pleasure of working with fantastic musicians as Nina Gromstad, Ronny Sveen, Lasse Haugerud, Steinar Krokmo, Jørn Viggo Lofthus, Ronny Tegner, Ole Bjørn Berge, Kito Eriksen, Espen Mjøen, Tor Arne Langeland, Tony Gustavsen, Jango, Stephen Ackles, Nils Amundsen and the list goes on and on… He’s also been one of the most frequently appearing musicians at the famous Monday night jam-sessions at Wrightegaarden, Langesund. Still an active guitarist and singer/songwriter with several ongoing projects - the most exciting is perhaps "Pooh-Bahz" with drummer Carl Erik Hansen - Ove just recently started playing the bass after all the cigs had killed his voice. Daniel is now stuck with this “potato”, which’s having the time of his life as a newly rehabilitated blues bassist playing those funky bass licks in the Pzydeco sound. |
